Bridgewater Bridge

Congratulations to our Hobart branch which has just signed a $1.5-million contract with Yunex Traffic to install the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and CCTV on the new Bridgewater Bridge.
The new four-lane bridge, which is the state’s largest ever infrastructure project, will open to traffic at 80km/h in the first half of next year.
It’s expected to cut travel times for commuters, create jobs by strengthening freight routes, and stimulate the local economy.

Contact Group’s Managing Director, Wade Fromberg, said it’s exciting to be involved in such a significant project.
“This is something that will be admired for generations and will benefit so many Tasmanians, so it’s great for Tasmanian owned companies to play a role,” he said.
The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) that Contact Group is installing will be connected to traffic management centres, enabling information to be collected and communicated on road conditions.
“It’s the latest technology, the first of its kind in Tasmania I believe, which will be a game changer for commuters,” Mr Fromberg said.

New IMAS Taroona Contract
Contact Group has also just signed a $5-million-dollar electrical contract for the new Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) Taroona project.
UTAS is developing an impressive new research and teaching precinct, which will host a teaching lab, wet lab, and research facilities to strengthen the Institute’s work to conserve threatened species like the red hand fish and monitor climate change.
This project includes high-voltage work, data and comms, audio-visual and electrical.
Work will get under way almost immediately and is expected to wrap up at the end of 2025.
Other new contracts recently signed include a major electrical and fire upgrade at the CSIRO and the statewide TasNetworks plumbing maintenance contract.
Congratulations to all our staff involved in the tendering process.
